Conception of the journal
The notion "forest certification", which has already become usual for everyday practice of western timber producers, just starts being actual for Russian timber industry complex. The lack of information in Russia may represent the problem of a certain information vacuum, regarding this question. It is necessary to recognize, that the information on the development of one or another direction of the forest certification is not always available for our compatriots, especially for those, who do not have opportunity to use electronic sources of information. Publishing special literature, reflecting the problem in press, on the radio, on TV and, at last, issuing specialized mass media could solve this problem.
Taking into account the above, the purpose of the present edition, is an objective, and independent reflection of the questions, concerning the development of forest certification in Russia and abroad.
The journal policy is aimed to support the voluntary forest certification systems, which guarantee an independent auditing, carried out by the third party, and, especially, leading systems on the markets of Russian industrial wood importers. The certification itself is considered to be a tool for evaluation of sustainable forest management, aimed at rational, and inexhaustible forest use, forest protection and reproduction, as well as biodiversity conservation. The task of the journal is to demonstrate the efficiency of the certification systems, corresponding to given criteria.
The journal is destined for every one who is interested in the problems of forest certification development in Russia and abroad/ In the first place, these are people, involved in timber industry and forest export for whom the certification is an effective mechanism for promoting their products to the foreign environmentally sensitive markets.
The prospective audience will also include forest offices, representatives of the environmental organizations, students and lecturers, of high schools.
